I first learned about ROFA through my uncle, who works here as an International Sales Manager. He often talked about his projects, and I was particularly interested in the combination of conveyor technology, the automotive industry, and the company’s international scope.
During my school internship in ROFA’s controls engineering department in Kolbermoor, I learned how to solder, gained an understanding of how control systems are designed, and discovered how many individual steps are required before a system is fully operational. After that experience, I knew I wanted to come back, not just for another internship, but for a summer job in electrical engineering.

I’ve always been fascinated by how cars are manufactured, especially the electrical systems and automation technology involved. One of my highlights came on my second day at work, when I had the opportunity to join a project visit at BMW’s plant in Dingolfing.
There, I saw ROFA’s systems operating directly on the production floor. The project manager explained how the conveyor technology works and how the individual processes are connected throughout the plant. That experience really opened my eyes to the scale of these projects and helped me realize that the work I contribute to today will eventually be used in facilities like this.

Johannes takes the time to explain how each component will be used later on. Since he’s only a few years older than I am, the atmosphere is relaxed, and I immediately felt comfortable as part of the team.
In school, you sometimes wonder when you’ll ever use what you’re learning. At work, I can apply that knowledge directly and see what happens when I connect, wire, or test components. It’s real learning by doing.
I’m still undecided about what I’ll do after completing secondary school, whether I’ll pursue vocational training or continue my education. But through my internship and now this summer job, I’ve realized that I enjoy technical work. In particular, I’m very interested in a career as an industrial electronics technician.
